Children's Advocate
Donna
Coleman has been a child
advocate in Nevada since
1991. She successfully
pushed through
legislation to
strengthen sex offender
laws in Nevada. She sat
on the State Board of
Education; co-founded
the Children’s Advocacy
Alliance; lobbied in
Washington DC for the
creation of National
Children’s Memorial Flag
day with Congresswoman
Shelley Berkley on April
26, 2001; collaborated
with County and State
for the creation of the
Diligent Search Center
that locates relatives
for the purpose of
kinship care; and,
helped raise $1.1
million to build the
Children’s Advocacy
Center located on the
Child Haven Campus.
Ms.
Coleman has appeared on
The O’Reilly Factor and
ABC World News with
Peter Jennings. She is a
nationally recognized
leader in Nevada for
victims of
abuse/neglect. She won
the “Commissioner’s
Award” given by the
Department of Health and
Human Services in
Washington DC, and, she
was also recognized as
“Humanitarian of the
Year” by the Las Vegas
Chamber of Commerce in
1998.
Ms.
Coleman pursued a degree
in Business from
Davenport College. She
has resided in Nevada
for 20+ years and has
owned a successful
executive recruiting
firm for over 25 years.
Ms.
Coleman was appointed to
the Standing Committee
by Governor Gibbons in
February 2010. Her term
expires December 2011.
