Laurie R. Diefenbach, Attorney at Law

Laurie Diefenbach was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada in October 1996. She was a solo practitioner in rural Nevada for 4-1/2 years before joining the Clark County Public Defender in January 2001. Laurie has practiced family law, civil litigation, and landlord-tenant law as well as criminal defense. She is proud to have been attorney of record in a case in every county in Nevada except one.

Laurie was a member of the State Bar of Nevada Disciplinary Panel, both Northern and Southern Nevada for 9 years. She also was a member of the State Bar of Nevada’s Clients’ Security Fund Committee for 12 years, serving as the Committee’s Vice-Chair for three years.

Laurie earned her undergraduate degrees in business management and marketing management, with high honors, from the Evening Division of Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts in 1978 and 1980. After 15 years of business experience in export sales and customer service, including a stint as an entrepreneur in two businesses in California, she entered law school at McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California in 1991. During law school, Laurie was elected to a four year term on the Eureka Union School Board in Granite Bay.

After law school graduation, Laurie and her husband, Paul, moved to Carson City, where Laurie again was elected to the School Board. She was also a member of the Carson City Parks and Recreation Board of Directors, and a volunteer Little League umpire.

Laurie is an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and devotes many hours to veterans issues. She enjoys exploring rural Nevada, playing golf, reading, walking and watching sports and news on television.

She was appointed to the Standing Committee on Judicial Ethics by the State Bar of Nevada in December 2011. Her term expires December 31, 2013.
