Honorable Stephen L. George is a Justice of the Peace in Henderson Township in Clark County. He was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. He received his BA degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and his JD from the Whittier School of Law.

Prior to being elected to the bench, Judge George was a Law Clerk in District Court Department 7. Thereafter, he worked for the Law Firm of Leonard A. Wilson and then for the Law Firm of Kummer, Kaempfer, Bonner and Renshaw. Judge George then went to work for the Las Vegas City Attorney’s Office as a Deputy City Attorney. He has an extensive background in Zoning and Development. As a Deputy City Attorney assigned to Planning and Development for the City of Las Vegas, he was Legal Council to the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Adjustment, Traffic Commission, and City Counsel regarding Zoning & Planning. Judge George was elected to the bench in 2000, and has been reelected in 2004 and 2008.

Judge George was appointed to the Standing Committee by the Nevada Supreme Court in October, 2008 and reappointed in 2011.  His term expires January, 2013.
