Bill

ADR practice focuses on
serious injury cases;
wrongful death, gaming
disputes, business,
commercial, and
corporate
ownership/shareholder
disputes; pharmaceutical
injury; construction,
design, mechanics liens,
and defects; and
settlement allocation
among numerous
claimants.
He has
been a Chief Criminal
Deputy District Attorney
for Clark County; a
Chief Deputy Attorney
General for the Gaming
Division; a Short Trial
Presiding Judge since
2002; Eighth Judicial
District Court Mediator
and Arbitrator, an
arbitrator and mediator
on the National Panels
for Construction and
Commercial Disputes for
the American Arbitration
Association since 1987;
a Nevada Supreme Court
Settlement Judge since
1997; a member of
Mediators of Southern
Nevada since 2005; a
member of the
International
Association of
Mediators; and a Private
Mediator and Arbitrator
in over 400 cases. Mr.
Hammer was appointed by
the County Commission as
the initial Chairperson
of the Clark County
Ethical Standards
Committee, where he
authored the first
standards of suggested
ethical conduct for
Clark County employees.

University of Nevada at
Las Vegas (BA, 1969;
MBA, 1970); taught
statistics and finance
at UNLV as a Graduate
Assistant; attended the
University of Houston
School of Law, where he
was Associate Editor of
the Houston Law Review
(JD-1974) and a member
of Order of the Coif and
Order of Barons. Mr.
Hammer authored a text
during his appointment
as an adjunct professor
of gambling law for the
School of Hotel
Administration at UNLV;
he has been a speaker at
numerous seminars
concerning ADR, the
Short Trial Program,
real estate, and trial
practice in personal
injury, commercial, and
real estate matters.
Mr.
Hammer has made Nevada
his home since 1965;
enjoys all sports,
hiking, climbing,
camping, target and
skeet shooting, riding
mountain bikes, and
restoring/driving/showing
Classic Mustangs. He is
married and has three
grown sons.
He was
appointed to the
Standing Committee on
Judicial Ethics by the
State Bar of Nevada in
December 2011. His term
expires December 31,
2013.
