Committee
member Slansky is the
retired assistant
director of the Nevada
Department of
Corrections. He began
his career as a teacher
at the Nevada State
Prison in 1969. He was
warden of the Northern
Nevada Correctional
Center. He was the Chief
Parole and Probation
Officer for Nevada from
1988 until 1993. A
Nevada resident since
1949; he grew up in
Carson City and Reno. He
is a University of
Nevada graduate. He is
an avid golfer and he
enjoys reading
historical biographies.
He serves
on the Board of
Directors of the Hospice
Foundation of Northern
Nevada and the Secret
Witness Board of
Directors.
Mr.
Slansky was appointed to
the Standing Committee
by Governor Guinn in
January, 2007;
reappointed in 2009 and
2011. His term
expires December 2012.
