Richard Wagner, District Court Judge
Commissioner Wagner was born and raised in Hawthorne, Nevada. He
graduated from Mineral County High School in 1961 where he served as the
Student Body President. In 1968, he graduated from Utah State University
with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. In 1971, he
graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of Law with
a Juris Doctor Degree.
After graduating from law school, he moved to Lovelock, Nevada, and
served as an Assistant District Attorney of Pershing County. He had a
private practice of law for approximately two years in Lovelock. He was
elected four times as the Pershing County District Attorney covering a
time span of 16 years. He is in his second term as District Court Judge of
the Sixth Judicial District Court. He served two years as President of the
Nevada District Attorneys’ Association.
Commissioner Wagner has seven children and 22 grandchildren.
Commissioner Wagner was appointed by the Nevada Supreme Court as an
alternate in January 2001; reappointed in January 2005, January 2009 and
January 2013. His term expires on January 7, 2017.
